Chapter 32 -Isane

20^TH FLOOR

It was already near to lunch time when Kaname finally came to the office.He went straight to the pantry because he was feeling a bit thirsty that time but he doest not want to bother the Makino to get it for him.

PANTRY

Risa : What if I just tell him … oh god im so screwed.

Risa as usualy,sitting at her favorite spot spacing out looking at the blue sky through the big windows infront of her. She didn’t even realize Kaname was standing at the door frame,watching her.

Kaname : So this Is your favourite spot  I suppose.

Risa was shocked to hear Kaname’s voice that she quickly turn around to see Kaname opening the cabinet’s door to get a bottle of plain water.

Risa : Can you just stop appearing out of nowhere?

Kaname : I made ample noise while walking from the entrance to here.You were the one spacing out in your own dreamy land.

Risa : ….

Kaname : I need to talk to you.

Risa : Talk.

Kaname : In my room Risa.

Risa : (sigh)

Kaname stopped at the door frame and turn to Risa.

Kaname : (gesturing Risa to follow him)

Risa : Walk first,I’ll catch up.

KANAME’S OFFICE

Kaname was quite surprised to see Karin sitting on his chair when he walked in.

Karin : Good Afternoon love birds!Ive been waiting for you both.

Kaname : Why?

Karin : Sit down please Kaname.Chill.

Risa : Were you waiting for us?

Karin : Yes yes!

Karin went to the coffee table and placed the newspaper she was holding on the glass table.

Karin : Look who made into the front cover of the paper today.

Kaname took the paper and his eyes instantly focus on the big photo at the right corner of the paper.

Risa : “ Ishikawa’s ….warm… welcome”

Kaname : What warm welcome?

Karin : A warm welcome for the member of the family….(clapping)

Kaname : What do you mean by that?

Risa : (clueless)

Karin : Which means,the media took your “relationship” to the positive side! You guys have done a good job as a couple. All you have to do is keep going until it drops out of the paper.And the internet search of course.

Risa : Is this even rational anyway (looking at the headlines)

Kaname : Are you going to the wedding tonight?

Karin : Of coruse! With Tatsuya (grinning)

Risa :….

Karin : Oh you can meet Tatsuya tonight.Finally!

Risa : OH your boyfriend I almost forgot about that

Karin : Indeed! Kaname,remember to bring Risa home early so that she can get prepared for the wedding.

Kaname : You have said that for more than 10 times.

Karin : Because you always slacks off when it comes to this.

Kaname :Anything else?

Karin : No,that’s all.Alright,I’ll see you both tonight!See you Risa !

Karin walked straight to the door and left the room leaving Risa and Kaname alone in the room.

Kaname : Finally (sigh)

Risa : What were you gonna ask me ?

Kaname : Oh yes, I have several questions to ask about that good friend of yours.

Risa : …

Kaname : The one you met at the café.

Risa : Oh Senri.

Kaname : Something tells me you were quite disturbed after talking to him.

Risa : what makes you say that?

Kaname : Your expressions drastically at some point during the conversation.

Risa : So,you were watching me?

Kaname : I was observing you.

Risa : I see… (lifting her eyebrows)

Kaname : Did something happen?

Risa : Nothing.

Kaname : Are you in some sort of trouble?

Risa : No.

Kaname : Does he knows about us?

Risa : I don’t think so.

Kaname : He should be.

Risa : Can we drop this topic?

Kaname : As you wish.

Risa : (sigh)

Kaname stood up from the couch and went straight his desk. He sat down and loosen his tie before finally focusing on the papers scattered on his big brown wooden desk.

Risa : Do you mind if I browse through your books?

Kaname : Do whatever you feel like Risa.

Risa : Thank you.

Risa stood and went straight to shelves filled with books at the corner of Kaname’s office.It was filled with lots of books that it looks like a mini library to her.Risa eyes all the titled at the bone of the books before finally spotting a familiar title.It  is Haruki Murakami’s Norwegian Wood.Risa took the novel and sat on the couch before flipping through the first page of the novel.

She was flipping page by page before spotting a handwritten message onecorner of the page.Risa tried to read it out but the writings were kind of faded . But she managed to figure whats written on the page.

Risa : “ You..You and I,together..fo…forever and..always,love Haruka” (whispering to herself)

Kaname didn’t realize Risa was reading the book because he was so indulged in his work. She didn’t even realize that Risa left the room until he heard the sound of the door.

Kaname : (lifting his head up) ???

ROOFTOP

Risa was sitting on her favorite bench,taking her time flipping through the pages of the novel because this girl Haruka wrote many short messages.

Risa : So this his previous girlfriend notes I think…

Risa flipped again until she saw a photo popping out from the last page of the book.Risa slowly open the page and she saw a polaroid photo of a man and a woman.She slowly take the photo and bring it closer to her face to look at it. It is a photo of Kaname wih a girl with shoulder length brown hair

Risa : This must be Haruka then (nodding)

Isane : It is.

Risa : (shocked)

Isane swiftly took a seat beside her before  taking the  photo from Risa’s hand.

Isane : This is Suzuki Haruka,Kaname ex-fiancee.

Risa : ….

Isane : Don’t worry, she is nothing compared to you.

Risa : I didn’t say anything.

Isane : Haruka could be the sweetest girl in the world to Kaname,she smart,beautiful,kind-hearted,very soft-spoken and most importantly,she had Kaname’s heart.But nothing compared to her decision to leave Kaname during his lowest time in life.

Risa : Are you sure its fine to tell me this.

Isane : You are apart of us now Risa,you deserve to know about this. Haruka was studying at the same place as Kaname. That’s where they both met and fell in love.I have never seen Kaname so inlove until she appeared in his life.Haruka was everything to Kaname that time.Everything was fine until Erina came back to Japan. Erina is Kaname childhood friend.She is like the main chaos of this whole issue if you ask me. She was the one who ruin Kaname’s and Haruka’s life years back.

Risa : What did she do exactly?

Isane : She leaked all Haruka’s personal photos and details.She even create stories about Haruka.She even said that she was Kaname’s fiancée ,not Haruka. I think you can get the picture of what happened next.Haruka’s life was such a mess,she even lost weight because of the depression she got.The media kept on pressuring her so does Erina. Kaname sworn to protect her but Haruka lost her faith in Kaname. For what reason,I don’t even want to know. Haruka left Kaname without even telling him,the next thing he know,she moved out of her house,not leaving any contact numbers or any address for Kaname. Even her friends cant help Kaname. Karin was in California that time and most of us were not in Japan. Only Ichirou was there with Kaname.When I came back to Japan, Kaname locked himself in his room for 7 days. The maid told he only opened to take his food and to put the empty tray back outside. That’s the only time the maid would ever see him.

Risa : (staring at Isane)

Isane : He refused to leave his room until Karin got back from California. You cant imagine how Karin sat infront of his door,talking to him for almost 5hours.She didnt move an inch for the whole 5 hours.She tried her best to convince Kaname that everything is going to be fine. Karin didn’t give up on Kaname. She insist that Kaname is going to be fine and she was right after all. But it seems that Kaname has changed eversince Haruka left him.

Risa : What abour Erina?

Isane : Erina left the country. Nobody knows where she went and nobody seems to care. She must not show up infront of Karin or else Karin is just gonna smack her with her heels (laughing)

Risa : I would probably do the same anyway.

Isane turn to Risa and look at her.

Risa : ??

Isane : As much as I want to tell you something,I think Kaname needs you more.

Risa : I don’t understand.

Isane swiftly stood up and placed the photo on Risa’s lap before turning his back to Risa.

Isane : You’ll understand one day,Risa (waving)

Isane closed the door behind him and lean at the door.

Isane : Now is not the right time Isane.

Mia : What right time.

Isane was shocked to see Mia leaning at the wall beside him,she was staring straight at Isane and she didn’t move at all.

Isane : Why are you here?

Mia : because I cant find you at your room,what else.

Isane : Whats up?

Mia : Let me remind you that I am your sister,your only sister and you cant deceive me at all.

Isane : What?

Mia : You like Risa don’t you?

Isane : I never said that.

Mia : You have not said that yet,to be precise.

Isane : If yes?

Mia : If yes,I would  not want to see you get hurt in the future Isane. Not again.

Mia climbed down the stairs leaving Isane alone at door cubicle.

Isane : (sigh)
